Viewpoint Fähncheskreuz
Wiesbaden's first adventure point is characterized by its beautiful view. It is located on the "Rundroute" regional park route.
The Fähncheskreuz is a vantage point on Elisabethenstraße in Wiesbaden. It is situated on a hill and offers sweeping views of the Taunus, the cities of Mainz and Wiesbaden and the Rhine-Hessian hills.
Wiesbaden redesigned the Fähncheskreuz in 2008. This was the city's first project as part of the RhineMain Regional Park. Since then, the Fähncheskreuz has been part of the "Rundroute" regional park route between Delkenheim and Kostheim.
The viewpoint was designed using local materials: Stone and Speierling wood. The redesign shows how the landscape can be enhanced with simple means.
The Fähncheskreuz combines history with nature and views.
The ensign cross is a cross with a figure of Jesus on a sandstone base, which was erected in 1697. On the cross is a weather vane made of sheet metal, which was added later. Its oblique arrangement arouses the viewer's interest and gave the wayside cross its name.
