EXPERTENWERK.STADT - Inclusive urban development

Wiesbaden is a city with many different people. But can everyone really live and participate in the city equally and without barriers? And how important are districts that are new, environmentally friendly, socially just and economically viable?

The picture shows a lively city scene in a park in front of multi-storey apartment blocks. To the right and left are houses with stores on the first floor. Trees, paths and green areas can be seen at the edge of the park.

As part of the Bahnhofs.Quartier Biebrich experimental project—The Inclusive 15-Minute Neighborhood—the City Planning Office examined how well existing ideas for neighborhoods contribute to ensuring that everyone can live well there. The Technical University of Darmstadt and the Hamburg-based office for inclusion and demographically resilient solutions, Grauwert, supported the City Planning Office in this effort. The results of this study are summarized in a report, which can be downloaded herePDF-File91,34 MB.

The planning team presented the results at an event with experts (Exper*InnenWerk.Stadt). Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende subsequently discussed the results with Camillo Huber-Braun, head of the City Planning Office, as well as other experts. In attendance were:

  • Prof. Martin Knöll, Professor of Design and Urban Planning, Technical University of Darmstadt
  • Matthias Knigge, Office for Inclusion and Demographically Resilient Solutions Grauwert from Hamburg
  • Andrea Hausy, Municipal Inclusion Officer for the State Capital of Wiesbaden
  • Moderator: Katja Lüke, Diversity Officer at the German Olympic Sports Confederation

The results were documented in a graphic recording and can be viewed herePNG-File21,71 MB

The picture looks like a large, hand-drawn poster. It shows several people sitting or standing in an urban environment with trees and buildings in the background. Between the figures are many boxes, speech bubbles and headlines with notes on inclusive urban development
