Building in existing buildings

Design primers

The "design primers" help to preserve the historic town centers of Auringen, Breckenheim, Delkenheim, Heßloch, Kloppenheim, Medenbach, Naurod, Nordenstadt and Rambach. The typical building forms are preserved in the design of conversions and renovations. They are also used in new construction projects.

It is important to protect and further develop the historical heritage of the state capital of Wiesbaden, even in the more rural areas. The uniqueness of each district can be seen and experienced above all in the old town centers in the buildings, open spaces and streetscapes.

The town centers of Auringen, Breckenheim, Delkenheim, Heßloch, Kloppenheim, Medenbach, Naurod, Nordenstadt and Rambach were inspected and examined as part of townscape analyses. Based on the site visits, the design primers provide many tips for building and renovating in the historic areas.

The design primers cover all elements that contribute to a harmonious townscape, e.g. roofs and roof structures, façades, windows and doors as well as enclosures and open spaces. The characteristic features of the respective town center are highlighted in the form of design recommendations.

The design primers are recommendations and guides for all those involved in the construction process. They serve as additional support for the preparation of a building consultation. Building consultation at the town planning office and the building inspectorate is free of charge.

We invite everyone to play an active role in the preservation of historic town centers.
