religious denomination: roman catholic

This church, whose patrons are the Apostles Peter and Paul, was consecrated in 1968. The porch shows symbols taken from the working lives of the residents of Schierstein on copper plates (fishing, farming, wine-growing and industry), but also from history (imperial orb) and the symbols for "key" and "sword", the attributes of the two patron saints of this church. Visitors first notice the wall painting (H. Hein-Guardian; batik and fabric painting; 1994) and the altar cross in the chancel. The tabernacle on the right is made of Euville limestone and bronze; the ambo on the left is also made of Euville limestone. The Virgin and Child are timeless in bronze. The Stations of the Cross, which are made of lime-tree wood, are next to the chapel (P. Mussner; 1985).

The picture of Mary was painted in oil by A. Drews (2002); the wall painting on the opposite side, "Apocalyptic Fall", is by H. Hein-Guardian (1996). The organ (by the firm of Klais; 1970) rings out on the gallery with 1776 pipes. The Easter candlestick was carved out of lime-tree wood by P. Mussner (1990).
