Favorite Christmas markets

From classic to romantic, from fine to informal - here you will find a selection of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Wiesbaden and the surrounding area. Can't make up your mind? Then take the test: What type of Christmas market am I?

What type of Christmas market am I?

Type 1: I just want everything - a large selection of stalls, live music, a wide range of culinary delights and I like lots of people!

Type 2: I want to have a great experience with my children/nieces/nephews/grandchildren, bake stick bread by the fire, drink punch and eat a really good bratwurst.

Type 3: Mulled wine? I prefer to toast Christmas with something sparkling. I like beautiful handmade things!

Type 4: I've just fallen in love and want to combine the visit with a romantic walk in the woods.

Type 5: Christmas is a festive event for me - I like it classy!

Resolution:

Type 1: Let's go to the Sternschnuppenmarkt in the heart of Wiesbaden!

Type 2: The Christmas market at Hofgut Adamstal is just perfect for you!

Type 3: At the Christmas market in Schloss Vollrads there's not only sparkling wine, but also a great arts and crafts market.

Type 4: How nice for you :-) You can combine both at the Waldweihnacht in the Chausseehaus!

Type 5: The beautiful Biebrich Palace is the right place to get you in the Christmas spirit!

The classic: shooting star market

View of Christmas market with illuminated lilies

From November 24 to December 23, you are once again invited to stroll past over 100 Christmas stalls under the festively illuminated lilies, drink mulled wine, snack on chestnuts and soak up the Christmas spirit at the Sternschnuppenmarkt (opens in a new tab) on Schlossplatz and in front of the Marktkirche. Handmade oriental lamps, handicrafts and wool from Nepal, mulled wine from winegrowers, almonds and nuts from Vienna await you.

With a bit of luck, you might meet the "Three Lilies", the mascots of the shooting star market. Their blue velvet dresses with the lilies embroidered in gold go back to the Wiesbaden city coat of arms, which has been adorned with three golden lilies for centuries - a sign of the historical connection to Nassau tradition and at the same time a symbol of dignity, purity and protection.

Don't miss: a ride on the Ferris wheel (opens in a new tab) on Mauritiusplatz! From a height of 45 meters, you have a fantastic view of the city. Don't forget to visit the Kurhaus - there is a beautiful Christmas tree made of 2,000 red Advent stars in the foyer ...

Opening hours:
From November 25 to December 23
Monday to Thursday from 10.30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday and Saturday from 10.30 am to 9.30 pm

The festive one: Biebrich Palace

A Christmas market with a castle backdrop and a view of the Rhine - is there a more festive setting? With its 21 lovingly decorated stalls, the Biebrich Christmas market at the castle is a real project of the heart - the Biebrich clubs and associations working group is organizing the event for the fourth time.

There is mulled wine, waffles, venison sausage from the Rheingau and international specialties. On December 6, Santa Claus arrives at 4 pm.

From Friday to Sunday, November 28 to 30 and
from Friday to Sunday, December 5 to 7

The romantic one: Forest Christmas at the Chausseehaus

Festively illuminated house with illuminated reindeer

The Chausseehaus (opens in a new tab), located right next to the city forest, is perhaps the most romantic place to get in the mood for Christmas. You can warm up by the fireplaces, listen to the girls' choir, make candles while listening to Christmas music and buy beautiful gifts such as beeswax candles or delicacies.

Workshops are also offered, for example for making an Advent wreath. Finished Advent wreaths will be available to buy in the Chausseehaus from November 29.

Opening hours:
On the Advent weekends November 15 and 16, November 22 and 23, November 29 and 30, December 6 and 7, December 13 and 14 and December 20 and 21
Saturdays from 3 to 9 pm
Sundays from 12 to 7 pm

The familiar: Hofgut Adamstal

Wooden facade, fire, bench with skins

The Christmas market at Hofgut Adamstal (opens in a new tab) is particularly cozy, thanks to the rustic wooden cladding of the historic estate, which is surrounded by greenery and very close to Wiesbaden. Between a crackling campfire, mulled wine and lots of homemade treats, you can get in the mood for Christmas. A carousel, a children's cinema and baking bread by the fire await children.

Culinary delights are also available - mulled wine, barbecued game specialties from our own hunting ground, soups and sweets such as cinnamon buns and crêpes.

Opening hours:
November 26 to December 21
Wednesday to Friday from 3 pm
Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon
