Kira van Eijsden: magma mama
The Kunsthaus showed the exhibition "magma mama : about raging and growing" by Kira van Eijsden as part of the Fluxus Sex Ties art summer from June 2, 2023 - July 23, 20 23.
As part of the Fluxus Sex Ties art summer, the Kunsthaus presented the exhibition "magma mama : on raging and growing" by Kira van Eijsden from June 2, 2023, to July 23, 2023. Artist Kira van Eijsden demonstrates what female art from the former Dada stronghold of Zurich might look like today. Bubbling, demanding, and dialogic—sometimes with a wink, but always with full conviction—her first solo exhibition, “magma mama: on raging and growing,” invited viewers to collectively question stereotypes and assigned roles. True to the motto “mixed feelings, mixed media,” Kira van Eijsden explores questions of her own (female) embodiment and disembodiment in an era of feminist upheaval, of personal dialogue, of the external and internal—be part of the eruption!
Kira van Eijsden
Kira van Eijsden (*1988) lives and works in Wetzikon and the surrounding area. She works in the fields of art, theater, and education. In her work, she explores feminist themes, thereby questioning the narratives and perspectives of the ever-present patriarchy and its excesses. She seeks out spaces and opportunities to experience self-empowerment and make it tangible. Through research and dialogue with others, she explores the world and attempts to understand it—or at least parts of it. In doing so, she continually experiments with new forms and formats. Body and space play just as much a role as voice and mood, immersive and subversive. In her work, she utilizes the media of performance, installation, video, music, text, and painting.
