Reading with Yuko Kuhn "Onigiri"

Saturday, January 17 at 7:30 pm at the Literaturhaus

Moderator: Shirin Sojitrawalla (DLF & taz)

Aki books two plane tickets when she learns that her grandmother has died: one for herself and one for her mother, who suffers from dementia. It is supposed to be a farewell visit that will take her to the family in Japan, although the treacherous illness does not actually permit any change of location. But when they sit down to eat together in her parents' old house, her mother speaks more clearly than she has for a long time. This is the first time that Aki gets to know the courageous and life-hungry woman that her mother once was and comes to terms with the cultural conflicts of her German-Japanese family history.

THE ORIGAMI WORKSHOP BEFORE THE READING IS UNFORTUNATELY ALREADY FULLY BOOKED!

Reading with Hannah Lühmann "Heimat"

Wednesday, January 21 at 7:30 pm at the Literaturhaus

Moderator: Eric Marr (freelance journalist)

When Jana moves to the countryside with her family, she quickly realizes that different rules apply here. Behind the bourgeois façade lurks a highly problematic world view, with AfD being voted for as a matter of course. Jana's neighbor Karolin has also dedicated herself entirely to the role of housewife and mother and is ultra-conservative in a contemporary way - as a "tradwife", she fights against everything Jana stands for in the name of tradition. But as time goes by, Jana finds herself having the disturbing thought that she envies Karolin's life...

Reading with Nora Gomringer "The child practices death on the guinea pig"

Friday, January 23 at 7:30 pm at the Literaturhaus

Moderator: Beate Tröger (DLF & FAZ)

When the poet Nora Gomringer lacks the words for poems after the death of her mother, she writes a novel. In it, she deals with her difficult life with her own parents: the literary scholar Nortrud and the famous lyricist Eugen. Her novel is about parting and mourning, half-siblings, suicide attempts and a hamster that had to be blow-dried. Nora Gomringer presents a brutally frank but also bizarrely funny debut novel that oscillates between essay, prose and many emotions.

hr2-Hörfest: Musical reading with Stefan Moster "On the happiness of singing in a choir"

Monday, January 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lutherkirche Wiesbaden

Singing creates feelings of happiness, it is like a natural antidepressant, reduces stress, has a life-prolonging effect and enables a very special unity with the body. Singing in a choir also promotes a sense of community - and the joy of music. To kick off the hr2 listening festival, we will also experience this joy as listeners in a musical reading at the Lutherkirche Wiesbaden. The renowned author Stefan Moster takes us into the world of choirs - of which there are currently 60,000 amateur choirs in Germany with an upward trend, in addition to professional choirs. With the verve of a curious narrator, Stefan Moster explores the past and present of choirs and makes some astonishing discoveries in the process. Singers from the Bach Choir and Evangelische Singakademie will accompany the evening with a suitable repertoire.

Organizer: Literaturhaus Villa Clementine/Cultural Office and hr2-kultur in cooperation with the Protestant Deanery Wiesbaden and the Martin Luther Parish Wiesbaden
