Reading at Villa Clementine: Maria Wördemann reads "Xerox"

On Tuesday, May 20, the actress Maria Wördemann will read selected passages from the novel "Xerox" by Fien Veldman at 7:30 p.m. in the Literaturhaus Villa Clementine, Frankfurter Straße 1.

Maria Wördemann was awarded the German Audiobook Prize in the "Best Performer" category in 2025 for her reading of the novel. The work tells the story of a nameless first-person narrator who works in an Amsterdam office and suffers from the monotony of her job. A clunky Xerox printer becomes her conversation partner and a projection screen for her thoughts. What initially appears to be an objectophile romance later raises fundamental questions about belonging and the emptiness of the world of work.

The evening will be hosted by Insa Hansen-Goos from Speak Low, the publisher of the audiobook. Maria Wördemann, born in 1995 and a member of the ensemble of the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, lends the narrator a haunting voice that expresses both emotional loneliness and the desire for self-determination.

Advance tickets cost twelve euros, concessions nine euros, plus booking fee. Tickets are available from the Tourist Information Office, Marktplatz 1, by telephone on (0611) 1729930 and online via the Literaturhaus homepage. Admission at the box office costs fifteen euros, concessions eleven euros.
