Reading at Villa Clementine: Natalie Buchholz presents "Grand-papa"
On Wednesday, May 21, author Natalie Buchholz will read from her novel "Grand-papa" at 7:30 p.m. at the Literaturhaus Villa Clementine, Frankfurter Straße 1, followed by a discussion about the book with journalist and author Nils Minkmar (Süddeutsche Zeitung).
The novel begins with her grandfather's empty urn. When Buchholz picks up his memoirs one day, she immerses herself in a life between France and Germany, between origin and belonging. "Grand-papa" first served in the French army and later experienced the Second World War as a conscript in the Wehrmacht. Natalie Buchholz tells of family turmoil, the Alsace-Lorraine region and dealing with one's own past.
Natalie Buchholz was born in France in 1977 and grew up in Munich. She studied Cultural Studies and Aesthetic Practice in Hildesheim and Aix-Marseille. In addition to several novels, she has published a series of books for young people and has been awarded numerous scholarships for her literary work.
