Access from Sonnenberger Straße to the Kurpark reopened
The access to the Wiesbaden Kurpark at Sonnenberger Straße 36 had to be renewed. After an initial construction phase, this can now be used again from Friday, April 17 - with certain restrictions.
This was due to defects that had been identified in the staircase. The staircase had become noticeably slanted, particularly due to the heavy and at times persistent rainfall in 2025 and the resulting progressive scouring of the subsoil. Due to the unstable subsoil combined with the staircase material becoming increasingly porous as a result of wear and tear, structural stability could no longer be guaranteed.
The first phase of construction, the path construction, began at the end of February and has since been completed. The measurements for the two handrails can only be taken after the path construction is finished, so their completion is expected to take another four to six weeks.
Regardless, the staircase will be reopened this Friday, April 17, with temporary safety measures in place. Use of the staircase is thus generally possible again, though with certain restrictions until the permanent handrails are installed. Visitors are asked to exercise extra caution and understanding.
The nearest access to the spa gardens remains via Josef-von-Lauff-Straße or through the main entrance at the Kurhaus Wiesbaden.
