20 years of the Children's and Youth Gallery: anniversary celebration with exhibition
The Wiesbaden Children's and Youth Gallery is celebrating its 20th anniversary on Saturday, May 9, starting at 3 p.m. with an anniversary party at Dotzheimer Straße 99.
The event will kick off with the opening of the exhibition “Young Art from Wiesbaden,” which will showcase approximately 150 works by children and young people aged four to 17. Following the opening, Dr. Patricia Becher, Head of Social Affairs, and Alexandra Waldmann will deliver welcoming remarks before a jury of children and young people awards prizes to selected works. The program will be complemented by live music, an open social gathering, and other activities throughout the afternoon.
On Sunday, May 10, the anniversary celebrations will continue with open hands-on workshops. There, children and teens can get creative themselves and try out various artistic techniques—including graffiti, painting, origami, printmaking, and jewelry design.
The exhibition “Young Art from Wiesbaden” showcases the diversity of artistic expression among young people—from painting and drawing to collages, prints, and sculptural works. It highlights the themes that engage children and young people and offers them a public platform for their work.
For 20 years, the Children’s and Youth Gallery has been an integral part of cultural education in Wiesbaden. It offers an open space for creative development, particularly in the Hollerborn neighborhood, promotes cultural participation, and strengthens young people’s opportunities to share their perspectives and make them visible.
The exhibition is open until Friday, June 26, Monday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Further information is available at www.wiesbaden.de/kinderundjugendgalerie (opens in a new tab).
