Mourning for Helmut Herrmann

The Wiesbaden sports scene mourns the loss of Helmut Herrmann, who served as district football manager for 15 years and was named honorary football manager.

“Over many years on the Leisure and Sports Commission and the Sports Committee, I came to know him as a knowledgeable yet outspoken advocate for sports in Wiesbaden,” said Gert-Uwe Mende, Mayor of Wiesbaden and Head of the Sports Department. “We will miss him and his expertise greatly and will honor his memory.”

Herrmann not only played soccer for TuS Dotzheim before transferring to Biebrich 02 for four years, where he formed the forward line in the Hessenliga alongside Jürgen Grabowski. He also served as chairman of TuS Dotzheim from 1974 to 1984 and from 1990 to 1996, and was subsequently named honorary chairman.

Beyond the events on the soccer field, he also cultivated social connections—often in a relaxed setting—with great care, in order to form sustainable partnerships and jointly generate positive momentum for the sport.
