Smart City in Wiesbaden

How is Smart City being implemented in Wiesbaden?

Wiesbaden is on its way to a smart future. To develop the "Smart City Wiesbaden", a dedicated Smart City unit has been under development in the city administration since 2021. The Smart City unit is organizationally assigned to Department VII - Department for Smart City, Europe and Order.

In Wiesbaden, we are currently implementing the Smart City in five fields of action

    • Energy and environment
    • mobility
    • Urbanity and buildings
    • Society, education, health, people
    • Administration and citizen services

From digital services for citizens to projects for sustainable urban development and the promotion of good coexistence in Wiesbaden - we find and implement concrete solutions for sustainable urban development. We are working with various smart ideas to make the city more modern and liveable in these areas.

Oriented towards the citizens:

Our goals and concepts should directly benefit the needs and well-being of the citizens of Wiesbaden. This is best achieved when we are in regular contact with the people of Wiesbaden. We actively involve relevant stakeholder groups and their knowledge at an early stage and thus align the development of Smart City Wiesbaden with the needs and benefits of the people.

  • What are the local needs?
  • Which user-friendly, technical solutions can improve the lives of Wiesbaden's residents?
  • What approaches are there to rethink Smart City together with the residents?

These questions were explored in various participation formats during the initial phase. We held workshops and Smart City Labs and implemented outreach participations at city festivals or interested groups on site. But we will also remain in regular contact with the people in our city as we continue our work. Our aim is to use these questions to ensure that our work is always closely aligned with the needs of the people in the city.

Citizen Science:

We also focus on citizen science - also known as citizen research. Here, interested citizens are directly involved in data collection and in the development process of smart city solutions.

Smart City only works together:

The topic of Smart City is now firmly anchored in the city administration and we are actively working in close cooperation with other offices and departments of the state capital to advance this cross-cutting topic. Of course, we are also networked and in contact with a wide range of stakeholders outside the city administration in order to turn our Smart City solutions into reality.

Do you have new ideas, feedback or suggestions for us? We look forward to hearing from you with specific points of contact.
