Smart City Wiesbaden
How will Wiesbaden become a smart city?
Smart is the English word for clever.
Smart is often used in connection with technology.
Smart means: technology makes life easier.
City is the English word for city.
Wiesbaden is to become a smart city.
There are extra employees in the city administration for this purpose.
The employees have been working on the Smart City since 2021.
The work area is called the Smart City department.
This is where we want to implement Smart City:
- Energy - Energy is a general term
for electricity and heating. - Environment
- Transportation, for example by train and car
- Buildings and public spaces in the city
- Community life, education, health
- Government services and resources for citizens
We have many goals:
-
Digital Services for Citizens
Digital means:
Using the Internet and computers -
Sustainable development
Sustainable means:
Thinking about the future.For example:
We protect the environment so
that we can continue to live well in the future. -
Promoting a Good Quality of Life
We have good ideas.
We want to make Wiesbaden more modern and a better place to live.
We are guided by the citizens
We work to promote the well-being of our citizens.
That is why we often talk with them.
We want to understand their needs.
We want to develop the city in a way
that allows people to make the most of it.
At the beginning, we asked:
- What do you need in the city?
- How can we improve life in the city?
Can technology help us do that? - What ideas do residents have for a smart city?
Residents were able to come to us and share their opinions—
for example, in our workshops.
And we went out to meet residents to hear their views—
for example, at city festivals.
We’ll continue to talk with people so
that we can take their needs into account in our work.
