Foreigners' council election

Next election date: March 2026.

Ballot paper
The Foreigners' Advisory Council election will take place in March 2026.

Since 2005, foreigners have also elected the Foreigners' Advisory Council every five years. The prerequisite is that 1,000 foreign residents live in the municipality. This body gives foreigners the opportunity to influence events in their place of residence.

The electoral system is based on proportional representation. All eligible voters have as many votes as there are seats to be allocated. In Wiesbaden, this is 31 votes. Eligible voters can give candidates up to three votes (cumulation) and distribute votes among candidates from different nominations (parties and electoral associations) (panache). If, on the other hand, only one nomination is permitted, elections are held according to the principles of majority voting. The election period is five years.

The constituency is the entire city of Wiesbaden. The constituency division corresponds to that of the municipal elections.
