State election
The next state election in Hesse and Wiesbaden (constituencies 30 and 31) will take place in 2028.
Final results of the Hesse state election 2023
State elections were held in Hesse on Sunday, October 8, 2023. The election results can be accessed via a link at the bottom of the page.
In the election to the 21st Hessian State Parliament, the number of MPs, with overhang and compensatory mandates, decreased to a total of 133 compared to the previous legislative period.
Directly elected members of the 21st Hessian State Parliament from Wiesbaden:
- Constituency 30 Wiesbaden I: Astrid Wallmann
- Constituency 31 Wiesbaden II: Professor Dr. Ralph Alexander Lorz.
Wiesbaden: State parliamentary constituencies 30 and 31
Every five years, citizens vote for the Hessian state parliament. There are (party or voter group) lists and direct candidates to choose from. As in the Bundestag elections, every voter has two votes. The constituency vote is cast for a candidate in the respective constituency. The state vote is used to elect the party/group of voters.
The statutory number of 110 seats in the Hessian state parliament is distributed among the parties/voter groups in proportion to the state votes. 55 MPs are elected in the constituencies and 55 MPs are elected from state lists.
Seats won in the constituencies remain with the party/group of voters even if it exceeds the number to which it is entitled according to its state votes - so-called overhang seats.
