Lord Mayor: 2031

Next election date: 2031

Ballot paper
The Lord Mayor election was decided in a run-off in 2025.

The Lord Mayor is elected for a term of six years. He/she is both Chairperson of the Magistrate and Head of Administration, i.e. the highest superior of all civil servants and employees of the City of Wiesbaden.

The election of the Lord Mayor is based on the principles of majority voting.

The candidate who receives an absolute majority of votes in the first ballot - more than half of all valid votes cast - is elected. If none of the candidates receives more than 50 percent of the votes, the two candidates with the most votes will compete in a second run-off election.

The Lord Mayor of the state capital Wiesbaden has been Gert-Uwe Mende (SPD) since July 2, 2019. He was re-elected in a run-off election on March 30, 2025.
