From October 9, 2025, a new EU-wide regulation on recipient verification for SEPA credit transfers will come into force: the so-called Verification of Payee (VoP). The aim of this measure is to make payment transactions within Europe more secure and to effectively prevent incorrect transfers and attempted fraud.

As part of this regulation, it will be checked in future before each transfer whether the name of the payee matches the IBAN stored. In the event of discrepancies, the payment can be delayed, rejected or only executed after additional confirmation.

To ensure that your payments to the City of Wiesbaden can continue to be processed smoothly and on time, we ask you to ensure that only the following name is used as the payee for future transfers - especially for existing standing orders:
