Department VII - Department of Digital Transformation

Smart City Unit

The Smart City Department aims to advance our state capital, Wiesbaden, on all levels: technologically, socially, environmentally, and innovatively.

A smart city is one that uses digital technologies and innovations to drive citizen-centered urban development. The availability and accessibility of data play a key role. We also prioritize digital inclusion for all citizens. The goal is to make people’s daily lives easier in a variety of ways, improve quality of life, and continue to develop the city with a focus on its residents.

The department is working specifically to further establish and expand a sustainable Smart City Wiesbaden. Wiesbaden is to become even more livable and future-proof—through intelligent infrastructure and digital solutions.

Department Head: Dr. Thomas Ortseifen
