Spring market revitalizes former SportScheck
With a spring market until Saturday, April 4, the vacant building of the former SportScheck in the pedestrian zone has come back to life. After the successful Advent market in December, the concept has been further developed: with more exhibitors and an extended supporting program.
Store regionally - discover wine - relax and linger
The market is located on the front ground floor of the building at Langgasse 5-9 and is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Thursdays until 10 p.m. In a pop-up format, it combines regional trade and enjoyment with culture, hands-on activities, and opportunities to linger. It will also participate in the Easter market from March 20 to 22 with Sunday shopping.
The spring market is conceived and organized by the city's city management in cooperation with various partners, including the Wiesbaden urban development company as the owner of the property.
Diverse offer
A total of 33 retailers are participating—more than at the Advent market—including young entrepreneurs, manufacturers, and artists. Ten winemakers from the Rheingau region are also taking part. Surrounded by fresh, spring-like decorations, they offer selected products, gift ideas, and a large selection of wines to taste and purchase.
The popular wine bar has been given a new location directly in front of the exposed window front. With additional seating, it has become a spacious meeting place to enjoy and linger, where visitors can also taste and purchase wines. A small selection of food and drinks is also available.
In keeping with the season, the outdoor area has now also been incorporated into the spring market with additional chairs and tables. The greater integration into the public space is intended to create an even more pleasant atmosphere.
Visitors can also take part in a survey about the spring market on site. Through the participation process known as the "Digital Citizen Dialog," they can evaluate the offerings and provide suggestions for further development.
The market activities are complemented by a varied program with various special promotions.

Vibrant city center
The wide range of products on offer, the varied program, and the improved visibility of the pedestrian zone compared to the pilot project of the Advent market demonstrate the potential of the property.
Mayor Christiane HinningerWith the spring market as an interim use of the former SportScheck, we are sending a strong signal for a lively Wiesbaden city center.
Further development
Back in December 2025, an Advent market was held at the same location, marking the first time a pop-up format had been used in the vacant space. It demonstrated how effectively creative temporary uses can activate vacant spaces and turn them into a meeting place with appeal for the entire city center. The market was well received by visitors and also positively evaluated by surrounding retailers as a way to revitalize the city center. Based on the extensive feedback, the successful concept has now been further developed with the spring market.
Compared to the premiere in winter, the space was made even more usable at the spring market: a former shop window back wall was removed, opening up an additional wide window front. This makes the building appear even more open and inviting to the pedestrian zone.
Outlook
Creative interim uses of vacant properties test uses and revitalize the city centre
The experiences gained from the temporary use of vacant properties should show how new formats affect footfall, quality of stay, and trade, and provide impetus for how the property can be used in the long term.
As a strong sign of a vibrant Wiesbaden city center, the spring market is intended to create additional appeal, enhance the quality of stay, and also support the surrounding businesses.
Head of the building department Andreas KowolUsing vacant buildings as experimental spaces for creative and innovative ideas creates prospects: for companies, for real estate and for Wiesbaden as a whole.
Next projects
After the spring market, the next temporary uses for the property are already in the starting blocks, following a short renovation phase. As part of World Design Capital, WDC projects from the Wiesbaden area will be presented at various locations from May to October. The wine shop, familiar from the Advent and spring markets, will also be back with its range of wines and beverages.
