QuABB - Training support in Wiesbaden

Qualified training support in companies and vocational schools (QuABB) is a Hesse-wide support service with the aim of preventing training drop-outs in the dual system at an early stage and stabilizing training relationships in the long term.

Various challenges can arise during an apprenticeship: academic pressure at school, conflicts at work, anxiety about exams, language difficulties, or personal problems. If these challenges are not addressed in a timely manner, they can jeopardize the success of the apprenticeship. The QuABB project therefore offers low-threshold, confidential, and free counseling for trainees. In one-on-one sessions, qualified training mentors help clarify problems, develop solutions, and open up new perspectives. The goal is to empower young people and guide them toward successfully completing their training.

At the same time, the program is also aimed at training companies and vocational schools. Trainers receive support in dealing with conflict situations, motivation issues, or impending dropouts. If necessary, the training advisors facilitate discussions among the parties involved and help to resolve misunderstandings and reach viable agreements. This close collaboration among all stakeholders makes an important contribution to quality assurance in dual vocational training.

Support is provided on an as-needed basis and can be utilized both preventively and in acute crisis situations. QuABB does not view itself as providing short-term individual counseling, but rather as a process facilitator that offers support for as long as necessary. If necessary, additional support and counseling services are incorporated to achieve comprehensive stabilization of the training relationship.

The project is sponsored by the Hessian Ministry of Economics, Energy, Transportation, Housing, and Rural Affairs, as well as the Hessian Ministry of Culture, Education, and Opportunities. Statewide coordination is handled by the Institute for Vocational Education, Labor Market, and Social Policy (involas). Funding is provided by the European Union and the State of Hesse. The state capital, Wiesbaden, co-finances the regional implementation of the project through the association FRESKO e.V.
