Wiesbaden School Theater Days

From March 16 to 20, the stages of the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden will once again belong to the creativity and enthusiasm of the region's schoolchildren, who will present their latest works as part of the School Theater Days 2026.

For five days, 550 performers aged between six and 18 will present a varied program in the Kleines Haus and the Studio. Adaptations of well-known theater classics alternate with original productions, including musicals, fairy tales, circus acts, and artistic interpretations of socially relevant topics ranging from social media and AI to beauty ideals and performance pressure to group dynamics and the acceptance of diversity. The plays, which have been developed over several months, can be presented to a large audience here as part of a professional performance program.
More than 20 schools and clubs from Wiesbaden and the surrounding area, as well as from Idstein and Rüsselsheim, have applied for the popular spots in the program of the young theater festival this year. The inclusive theater Anders is also taking part.

The grand opening will take place on Monday, March 16, at 11 a.m. in the Kleines Haus.

About the school theater days

Acting, rehearsing, and immersing oneself in other characters are experiences that promote empathy and sensitivity. Stage fright and feelings of euphoria after a successful performance are something that can only be experienced in the theater. During the school theater days, students and all participants can gain these experiences.

In cooperation with the theater education department at the Hessian State Theater, the Cultural Office has been organizing this multi-day theater festival since 2002, where schools present their own productions on the stages of the Hessian State Theater in addition to theater classics. The School Theater Days are very popular even beyond the city limits.
