Christa Moering
On June 5, 1996, Christa Moering signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden.
Christa Moering was born on December 10, 1916 in Beesenstedt an der Saale.
In 1942, the painter and gallery owner made Wiesbaden her adopted home and founded the artists' group 50 together with the painter Heinz-Rudi Müller in 1950.
Eight years later, she opened her gallery in Martinstraße. The gallery was also temporarily located in Solmsstraße until she gave up the business in 1993 due to her age.
Due to her outstanding commitment to the art and cultural scene in Wiesbaden and especially to the promotion of young talent, she was made an honorary citizen on March 21, 1996 and also signed the city's Golden Book at the ceremony in the town hall.
On November 26, 2008, the city also honored Moering by naming a square in the new artists' quarter. The unveiling of the nameplate was carried out personally by the then 92-year-old Christa Moering.
She passed away on June 9, 2013 in Wiesbaden.
