Activity in the higher fire department
In the administrative service, civil servants in the higher fire department are deployed as clerks or as department heads. There, they deal with technical issues, develop concepts, assume responsibility for personnel and budgets and ensure smooth organization within the fire department. Whether in preventive fire protection, operational planning, civil protection or technology - they actively shape the further development of a modern professional fire department.
In the operational service, members of the senior fire department take on the role of incident commander or work in the situation service of the central control center. They coordinate complex operations, make tactical decisions and are responsible for the crew, equipment and the safety of the public. Thanks to their training and experience, they are able to maintain an overview and make clear decisions even under great pressure.
They are also involved in training and further education and pass on their knowledge to trainees and colleagues.
