SV Wehen Wiesbaden in the 3rd Football League
The 2024/25 season has come to an end and SVWW only finished ninth with 55 points. Planning for the new season in the 3rd division has begun and four new signings have now been confirmed. Preparations will begin on June 25, with the new season starting on the first weekend in August.
Planning for the new season
The first decisions for the new 2025/26 season have now also been made: veteran Sascha Mockenhaupt will remain in Wiesbaden for the coming season, while Hübner, Fechner and reserve keeper Brdar have also extended their contracts. Florian Carstens and Nick Bätzner have even found new clubs, with Carstens moving to league rivals Hansa Rostock and Bätzer to Paderborn in the Bundesliga 2. Thijmen Goppel also wants to leave SVVW and is in talks with RW Essen, among others. In addition, Amin Farouk (FSV Frakfurt), Bjarke Jacobsen, Arthur Lyska, Nico Rieble and Emanuel Taffertshofer are looking for new challenges and will no longer be active at SVWW next season. The two defenders Marius Wegmann and Felix Luckenender could also leave the club this summer. That would mean ten players leaving the club.
The new goalkeeping coach has also now been decided, with former stand-in keeper Mohamed Amsif ending his career and taking over the role from the departing Marjan Petkovic.
The first four new signings for the coming season are already in place: SVWW have signed midfielder Milad Nejad Haji Lor, captain of Hamburger SV II, and another midfielder, Robin Kalem, from Hannover 96 II. The third new signing is Niklas May from league rivals Viktoria Köln, who comes to SVWW with the recommendation of 114 third division games. Also joining SVWW from Viktoria Köln is attacking midfielder Donny Bogicevic until 2027. Up-and-coming keeper Finn Ludwig and talented defender Tim Neubert have signed their first professional contracts.

Last game of the season: 2:1 home win against Aachen
Wiesbaden coach Nils Döring made just one change from the 3-2 win in Ingolstadt, bringing back regular keeper and captain Stritzel for Lyska. Otherwise, the same team started as on matchday 37 in Bavaria. Wiesbaden got off to a slightly better start in this summer football match, Kaya had the first chance after just five minutes, as SVWW not only wanted to win against Alemannia, but also to secure Kaya the top scorer's crown. But after that, the air was a little out of the first half, only Johansson had another chance five minutes before the break, but it remained 0-0 and so it went into half-time.
The visitors were on the front foot early in the second half and took a 1:0 lead through Castelle in the 51st minute. However, the deficit seemed to be something of a wake-up call for the hosts. In the 61st minute, Kaya equalized with his 19th goal of the season from Goppel's cross to make it 1:1 for the Red & Blacks. SVWW were now in the driving seat, the supposed 2:1 through Johansson was disallowed due to a foul, but in the 68th minute it was Kaya again who made it 2:1 with his 20th goal of the season. After that it was summer soccer, SVWW secured the 2-1 win and finished a mixed season in ninth place with 55 points - ten points behind third-placed Saarbrücken and 15 behind second-placed Dresden - and Kaya secured the 3rd division's top scorer's crown.

6:5 in the Hessen Cup final against Kassel
In addition, after the win against Aachen and the goal scorer's crown, the team could go into the Hessen Cup final, which took place on May 24 in the PSD Bank Arena in Frankfurt against Hessen Kassel, with confidence. There, SVWW won 6:5 (1:1) after a penalty shoot-out and thus advanced to the first round of the DFB Cup next season.
