SVWW will play in the 3rd Football League again in 2025/26.

Guest appearance at Rot-Weiss Essen

SV Wehen Wiesbaden will continue on Sunday, February 1, at 7:30 p.m. with their next evening game in the 3rd league at Rot-Weiss Essen. Essen are aiming to continue their push for promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga this season and are currently fourth in the table. So it won't be an easy task for Wiesbaden at Essen's Hafenstraße. But after two good performances, the team from the Hessian capital has no reason to hide in the Ruhr region.

There should certainly be no major changes to Coach Scherning's starting eleven. After serving his yellow card suspension, Gillekens should return to his position in defense. Neubert will have to take a seat on the bench after his great performance against Verl. Otherwise, the same players should take the field as against Verl.

Possible setups

RWE: Golz - Rios Alonso, Schultz, Hüning - Kostka, Brumme - Gjasula, Müsel - D. Schmidt, Mizuta - Janssen - Coach Koschinat

SVWW: Brdar – Gillekens, F. Hübner, Janitzek – Mockenhaupt, N. May – Bogicevic, Gözüsirin – Flotho, Kaya, Schleimer – Coach Scherning

First home game in 2026 - SVWW defeats Verl 2:1

SVWW coach Daniel Scherning made three changes to the team that beat Ulm 1-0. Gözüsirin and Agrafiotis started in place of Fechner and Flotho, while Neubert made his professional debut, replacing Gillekens, who was suspended after receiving a yellow card. There was little action in the first 15 minutes, then Verls Waidner's shot hit the crossbar. Wiesbaden had its first chance after almost 25 minutes, but Agrafiotis shot over the goal from a good position. Just a few minutes later, Mockenhaupt blocked Besion's shot, and the score remained 0-0. In the 34th minute, the Wiesbaden fans had something to cheer about when Agrafiotis did better than Mockenhaupt and made it 1-0. SVWW took their narrow lead into the break.

The visitors had their first chance shortly after the restart, but the ball failed to find its way into the Wiesbaden goal. Arweiler had a chance to equalize after almost an hour, but failed to take it, leaving the score at 1-0 to SVWW. After almost 20 minutes of inactivity, it was substitute Flotho who made it 2-0 in the 80th minute. But just a minute later, Arweiler made it 1-2, and the game was wide open again. However, when Otto missed the equalizer in stoppage time, the game was over in SVWW's favor. The 2-1 victory has reduced the gap to third place in the relegation zone to four points.
