SVWW: 2-2 away to SC Verl
After the opening win against Ulm, SVWW visited SC Verl on matchday 2 and, after leading 2-0, could not get past a 2-2 draw. The league continues after the cup break on Friday, August 22, at 7 p.m. at home against Essen, before Bayern Munich comes to Wiesbaden in the first cup round at the end of August.
Matchday 2: 2:2 in Verl
SVWW coach Nils Döring only had to make one change from the win against Ulm, bringing on Wohlers for the injured Mockenhaupt. And no game can start faster than this one. Flotho received the ball after the kick-off and fed Schleimer, who shot in to make it 1:0 for the visitors from Wiesbaden after less than a minute. And the Red & Blacks continued in the same vein and after just 18 minutes it was 2:0, May assisting Flotho and after just under 20 minutes it looked like a successful afternoon for SVWW. But things turned out differently and Wiesbaden lost the thread after 2-0 and let the game slip out of their hands. First Ens (23rd and 33rd minute) and Mhamdi (29th minute) missed their chances, but then Otto scored after 34 minutes to make it 1-2 and Verl were back in the game. And after a handball by Wohlers, a penalty was awarded before the break, but Taz hit the crossbar and the visitors went into the break with a lucky 2-1 lead.
The hosts had the game under control after the break and almost equalized after an own goal (47th minute) and a chance from Taz (59th minute). The flow of the game was completely lost due to numerous changes on both sides. It was only after 75 minutes that Verl had their next opportunity and the strong Taz scored with a beautiful shot from distance to make it 2:2. After a possible handball by Janitzek, the penalty whistle was not blown for Verl and when Taz failed to score in stoppage time, SVWW had managed to hold on for a lucky 2:2. Coach Döring must now analyze why the team withdrew completely after 20 great minutes and hardly came into its own and hopefully put things right before the next game.

Home match against RW Essen
As SVWW is not in cup action until the end of August, the next game for the Wiesbaden team is not until Friday, August 22nd at 7pm. On Friday evening, the team will host Rot-Weiss Essen at home in the Brita-Arena and SVWW will be looking to build on their performance against Ulm and the first 20 minutes in Verl to secure win number two.
DFB Cup against Bayern Munich
And the cup draw has now produced a dream draw for SVWW: in the first round, the team will face German champions and record cup winners FC Bayern Munich at home on Wednesday, August 27 at 8:45 pm. On this day, the Brita-Arena is sure to be filled to the last seat and there will be plenty of soccer celebrities in the Hessian state capital. The match will also be one of four to be broadcast live on free-to-air TV (ARD or ZDF).
