Since October 14, 2025, all projects that only involve the demolition or removal of a building or structure have been exempt from planning permission in accordance with Section 63a of the Hessian Building Code (HBO).

Since October 14, 2025, all projects that only involve the demolition or removal of a building or structure are exempt from planning permission in accordance with Section 63 a of the Hessian Building Code (HBO).
Exception
If a new building is to be erected at the same time and a permit is required for the new construction project, the demolition is automatically included in the building permit procedure.
Note
If your project is a notifiable demolition, it may only be started after the one-month period has expired.
