Since October 14, 2025, all projects that only involve the demolition or removal of a building or structure have been exempt from planning permission in accordance with Section 63 a of the Hessian Building Code (HBO).

Since October 14, 2025, all projects that only involve the demolition or removal of a building or structure are exempt from planning permission in accordance with Section 63 a of the Hessian Building Code (HBO).
Exception
If a new building is to be erected at the same time and a permit is required for the new construction project, the demolition is automatically included in the building permit procedure.
Note
If your project is a notifiable demolition, it may only be started after the one-month period has expired.
