International Museum Day: an experience for the whole family at the Stadtmuseum

On Sunday, May 18, the "sam - Stadtmuseum am Markt" invites you to International Museum Day - with free admission and a varied program for all age groups.

Since 1977, the day of action has been celebrated worldwide to emphasize the importance of museums as places of cultural memory in a changing society. This year's international motto "The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities" can be easily applied to the current special exhibition "LIMES - World Empire. World Heritage. Wiesbaden." The exhibition tells of civil and military life on the frontier of the Roman Empire, but also of the history of research around the Limes, in which Wiesbaden plays a special role. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Roman Limes as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the exhibition shows how museums preserve the past and at the same time open up new perspectives on history - as lively places for dialog and shared learning. It's well worth a visit - for history buffs, families, Wiesbaden fans and anyone who wants to discover how museums connect the past, present and future.

There are free guided tours at 11.30 am and 3 pm, and Roman games for children all day.
