On a literary expedition with "Hooked on a Book"
One book, one table, two chairs - in "Hooked on a Book", two participants work their way through a book that poses big and small questions about life and togetherness.
The project by the German-Swiss artist collective Rimini Protokoll was initiated by the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain and is taking place as part of World Design Capital 2026. On Saturday, May 30, “Hooked on a Book” will be presented in the Anderer Salon at the Literaturhaus Villa Clementine, Frankfurter Straße 1. There are time slots from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and from 8:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Admission is free. Further information can be found at www.wiesbaden.de/literaturhaus.
The event is organized by the Literaturhaus Villa Clementine/Wiesbaden Cultural Office with support from the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain. With the kind support of the Academy of Arts, Section: Film and Media Art.
In “Hooked on a Book,” participants become the main characters of the story. Pairs sit at tables—ideally without knowing each other beforehand—and engage interactively with a book provided. It poses questions and encourages exchange and conversation: about life and the world on both a grand and intimate scale, what divides us and what unites us, being alone and being together. Page by page, a unique story unfolds, creating an analog yet interactive connection between two people.
The idea for “Hooked on a Book” comes from Helgard Haug (Rimini Protokoll), with illustrations by Luise Wüstling. Moritz von Rappard is the project’s dramaturg, and Paula Holzhauer serves as artistic collaborator. Louise Stölting is the production manager, and printing and distribution are handled by TZ – Verlag & Print GmbH.
