Civil Engineering and Surveying Office & Department of Motor Vehicles

The Civil Engineering, Surveying, and Road Traffic Authority is a diverse and dynamic agency. Its employees handle a wide variety of issues with great dedication and expertise. The core areas are:

  • Traffic planning and engineering 
  • Construction and Maintenance, as well as
  • City Surveying
  • the Department of Motor Vehicles

In addition, there are administrative, controlling, and contract and accounts receivable functions, as well as staff units dealing with forward-looking topics such as the digitization of public administration, environmentally friendly urban logistics, electric mobility, and similar issues. Advertising use and large construction sites also fall under the jurisdiction of the Civil Engineering and Surveying Office & Road Traffic Authority. The RADBÜRO, which both plans bicycle infrastructure and conducts public relations work, is part of the Civil Engineering and Surveying Office. 
The Road Traffic Authority determines how local roads, paths, and public spaces may be used in accordance with the provisions of the German Road Traffic Regulations (StVO). It also reviews and approves applications for special use and exemptions.
