Direct award of local public transport services

In accordance with the Hessian Public Transport Act (ÖPNVG), the state capital of Wiesbaden is both the responsible authority and the local authority responsible for awarding public service contracts to ensure local transport services in Wiesbaden.
ESWE Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH has been entrusted with the operation of local public transport (ÖPNV). The current contract runs until October 2027.
On the basis of Resolution No. 0378 of the City Council of November 2, 2023, it was decided to begin preparations for a further direct award to ESWE Verkehrsgesellschaft in accordance with Art. 5 (2) of Regulation (EC) No. 1370/2007.
