Extension to classes A1, A2, A, B, BE, L and T
With a Class AM driver's license, you may operate two- and three-wheeled mopeds as well as four-wheeled light motor vehicles.
With a Class A1 driver’s license, you can ride motorcycles with an engine displacement of up to 125 cubic centimeters and a maximum power output of up to 11 kW.
With a Class A2 driver’s license, you may operate motorcycles with a power output of up to 35 kW, provided their maximum power output does not exceed 70 kW.
With a Class A driver’s license, you may operate motorcycles and three-wheeled motor vehicles.
Driver’s license classes AM, A1, A2, and A are issued for an indefinite period.
Simplified requirements apply for upgrading from Class A1 to Class A2 and from Class A2 to Class A.
To obtain the license extension, you must pass a written and a practical test.
With a Class BE license, you may drive vehicle combinations consisting of a Class B towing vehicle and a trailer or semi-trailer, provided that the maximum authorized mass of the trailer or semi-trailer does not exceed 3,500 kg.
