We have to play [talk] or: nonsense not operas
The "art.ist.kollektiv" will be a guest at the Kunsthaus on Friday, May 9, at 7:30 p.m. as part of the International May Festival project grant.
Let’s be honest: no one has to talk. We’ve all learned to speak in one way or another—but before that, there was: no, not silence. Pre-linguistic questions and answers, a learning game with sounds and gestures that relies on listening and, in the best case, leads to successful communication. Yet: most of the time, people talk a lot, say little, and hardly listen.
We, the "art.ist.kollektiv," listen and ask: how and about what is being spoken, what is being said? Does what is spoken become truer through repetition? Or does someone’s opinion become more convincing through emphasis? We, meanwhile, play with language and translate it into sound, rhythm, and melody, moving from text to music, from music to movement, from speaking to playing. In the best case, understanding is achieved playfully: a resonant togetherness amidst the Babylonian confusion.
