U.S. Military Government

On June 10, 1947, Major Walther E. Chotas and Major Roy N. Eddy signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden as representatives of the U.S. Military Administration.

After Major Chotas, who had been in charge of the Wiesbaden district for some time, was transferred to Bad Schwalbach in the same capacity, Mayor Redlhammer asked him to sign the town's Golden Book.

At a reception in the town hall, Redlhammer expressed his thanks for the commitment of the Americans in Wiesbaden, without whose support the establishment of a democratic administration would hardly have been possible.

Major Chotas explained that he would fondly remember his time in Wiesbaden and the will of the Germans to finally overcome National Socialism.

Signing alongside Chotas was Major Eddy, who returned to the United States after two years in the American military government.
