Road Surface Rehabilitation on Dotzheimer Straße Between Klarenthaler Straße and Kaiser-Friedrich-Ring
Due to damage to the road surface, it is absolutely necessary to repair the pavement on Dotzheimer Straße between Klarenthaler Straße and Kaiser-Friedrich-Ring. Work will begin on Monday, August 31, and is expected to be completed on Friday, October 2.
Traffic patterns on Dotzheimer Straße will be altered for the duration of the work: Traffic heading into the city will be routed past the construction site via a one-way system. Traffic heading out of the city will be diverted via Blücherstraße and Gneisenaustraße. Bicycles heading out of town will be rerouted via Goebenstraße, a designated bike lane. Pedestrians can use their usual routes.
Due to ongoing construction in the surrounding streets, it was not possible to schedule the work during the summer months when traffic is lighter. The necessary resurfacing of the roadway cannot be postponed any longer. Last year, the asphalt surface of the bus lane had already buckled due to heat and was temporarily closed. The immediate damage was repaired at that time. The section of Dotzheimer Straße that is now being repaired shows significant overall damage and defects that pose a major safety risk. Last winter alone, numerous potholes had to be temporarily patched here.
The Civil Engineering and Surveying Office is aware that the work will affect traffic flow and conditions in this neighborhood and asks for your understanding.
The city regularly renovates roads, utility lines, and sewers. As a result, there are approximately 5,000 construction sites in Wiesbaden every year. A map showing selected projects is available at www.wiesbaden.de/baustellen. ESWE Verkehr provides information on bus detours at www.eswe-verkehr.de (opens in a new tab). All of this work represents an investment in the future. Without these repairs, major damage would occur sooner or later, leading to more severe traffic disruptions.
