Additional drinking water samples—both in the wider vicinity of the city center and in all other neighborhoods—showed no abnormalities.

The Wiesbaden Municipal Water Utility (WLW) and ESWE Versorgung, as the network operator, are urging residents—pursuant to an order from the Wiesbaden Health Department—to boil drinking water before use in the area listed below, effective immediately and until further notice. This is a precautionary measure to protect public health.

This means that tap water in the area listed below may only be used after boiling until further notice:

· for drinking,

· for preparing food and beverages,

· for cleaning wounds,

· and for brushing teeth.

The water should be brought to a rolling boil and then allowed to cool for at least ten minutes. For practical reasons, it is recommended to use an electric kettle.

For groups of people with specific risk factors, additional health protection recommendations apply:

Groups of people with specific risk factors should also use only boiled water for the following purposes:

· Handwashing

· showering

Groups of people without specific risk factors may continue to use the water for these purposes.

The water may still be used by everyone without restriction for flushing toilets.

The water utilities of the state capital of Wiesbaden, as the responsible water supplier, are working closely with the Wiesbaden Public Health Department. Flushing operations are being carried out in the affected sections of the water distribution network. Drinking water tests are conducted several times a week at a large number of sampling points. All experts are working around the clock to identify the cause and resolve it permanently.

The City Festival, the Fall Market, and the Harvest Festival will take place. The water is safe to use with the help of special filters. 

The State Capital of Wiesbaden, WLW, and ESWE Versorgung are providing ongoing updates on their websites, social media channels, and through local media regarding the current status, as well as when the boil-water advisory is lifted.
