It is the joint task of local government and politicians, state authorities, foundations, educational institutions, and many actors in civil society to actively shape local educational structures. The municipality has the task of coordinating the actions of the various actors and aligning them with common guidelines.

The Education Office sees itself as a catalyst, coordinator, and ally within Wiesbaden's educational landscape. The Education Office is responsible for establishing data-based municipal education management, always with the aim of positively influencing the educational participation of all citizens in Wiesbaden. In doing so, it is committed to promoting a future-oriented, shared understanding of education in line with Wiesbaden's educational mission statement.

The tasks of the Education Office:

• Strengthening and further developing the educational landscape on the basis of the educational mission statement.
• Operating data-based municipal education management. To this end, we are further developing the education reporting system, including education monitoring.
• Optimizing and expanding learning and support opportunities for Wiesbaden residents throughout their educational careers; formal and non-formal learning settings in particular, but also informal learning, are particularly suitable for this purpose.
• To be a source of ideas and an initiator for educational projects in schools and in an extracurricular context (children and young people in their free time).

The Education Office also takes on the tasks of school development planning:

• Developing and updating school development plans.
• Monitoring and evaluating student numbers and demographic trends to determine future needs.
• Designing sustainable school programs in close coordination with the specialist departments.
