Monument protection and preservation
As the local historic preservation authority, the Department of Historic Preservation and Conservation is responsible for overseeing and enforcing the Historic Preservation Act. Its duties include, in particular, providing advice on historic preservation and conducting reviews under historic preservation law as part of the permitting process, as well as awarding grants.
