Apply for accompanied driving from the age of 17

Within the framework of accompanied driving from the age of 17, driving licenses for categories B and BE may be issued from the age of 17. In this case, no driving license is issued, but a test certificate.

There are certain conditions that must be met before a license can be issued:

  • Until the 18th birthday, you may only drive with a named accompanying person entered on the test certificate. Several accompanying persons can also be registered.
  • The accompanying person must
    • be at least 30 years old
    • have held a valid German or EU/EEA category B driving license for at least five years
    • be registered with a maximum of one point in the central traffic register.
  • Additional accompanying persons can be registered at a later date.
  • The examination certificate is only valid in Germany.
