Regulatory authority for mortuary affairs

The public health authority responsible for mortuary affairs intervenes in cases of death where there are no relatives obligated to arrange the burial, or where such relatives fail to arrange the burial on their own and within the statutory time limits. The public health authority then takes the necessary measures to prevent danger and maintain public safety and order.

If a person dies in a facility (e.g., a hospital or nursing home) and there are no relatives responsible for the burial, or if such relatives fail to fulfill their obligation to arrange the burial, the management of the facility is responsible for the burial.
