Learning workshop
The Lernwerkstatt project offers pupils the opportunity to gain an early insight into professional fields in order to discover their talents and inclinations. The aim is to arouse interest in dual vocational training.
The project is currently being implemented at four schools in Wiesbaden:
- Dichterviertel Middle School
- Erich Kästner School
- Albrecht Dürer School
- Wilhelm Leuschner School
Target group and objectives of the learning workshop
Depending on the school, the program is aimed at students in grades seven through ten. The learning workshops are designed to teach basic technical skills and provide hands-on work experience. Through close collaboration with training companies, students gain insights into and experience with the professional and working world. The goal is to spark their interest in a technical trade and make it easier for them to begin their vocational training.
The concept behind the learning workshop
The workshop takes place once a week for two hours. In addition to basic technical skills, students learn key professional competencies such as teamwork, reliability, and perseverance. The workshops operate in small groups and provide hands-on learning environments. Students experience an optimal learning environment. Project participants are taught by skilled professionals and master craftsmen from the trades or by teachers of vocational studies.
Certification and support for career entry
Upon successful completion of the training workshop, all participants will receive a certificate. Demonstrating an additional qualification can be a plus when applying for jobs. In addition, the Wiesbaden-Rheingau-Taunus District Craftsmen’s Association will assist participants in finding an apprenticeship.
Funding and promotion of the project
The "Lernwerkstatt" project is primarily funded and supported by the schools and the Department of Economic Affairs and Employment, as well as through an annual donation from the Rotary Club of Wiesbaden to the Dichterviertel Middle School.
