Apply for guardianship or care assistant
Does your child have problems in everyday life or in their development? Are you as a parent unable to help your child on your own? Then an educational advisor can support your child.
A parenting support worker or care assistant can help a child or young person in everyday life, in dealing with their parents and with social problems. This is a form of educational assistance to which legal guardians are entitled if the child's welfare cannot be guaranteed and the assistance is suitable and necessary for the child's development. The educational assistant or care assistant should support the child or young person in overcoming developmental problems, if possible with the involvement of their social environment, and promote their independence, taking into account their relationship with their family.
Possible forms of help are
- Discussions about problems, fears and behavior
- Help in coming to terms with stressful experiences
- Support in solving problems with family, friends, teachers or other people
- Support with visits to the authorities
- There is further help for older young people: Support with finding work and accommodation
- Help with separation from parents
- Help with becoming independent
Note: In contrast to "socio-educational family support", a parenting support worker concentrates their help largely on the child or young person in question. If possible, he involves the social environment.
This is a type of educational support service. It can also apply to young adults.
