Hygiene in medical facilities
Facilities in accordance with Section 23 (5) sentence 1 of the Infection Protection Act (hospitals, facilities for outpatient surgery, preventive or rehabilitation facilities, dialysis facilities, day clinics, maternity facilities) and facilities in accordance with (5) sentence 2 of the Infection Protection Act (dental practices, medical practices and practices of other human medical professions, in which invasive procedures are carried out) and Section 35 (1) of the Infection Protection Act (full and partial inpatient facilities for the elderly, disabled and people in need of care as well as outpatient care services) must define internal procedures for infection hygiene in hygiene plans and are subject to infection hygiene monitoring by the public health department.
Employees of the public health department visit the facilities and companies - even unannounced - to check whether the hygiene rules are being adhered to. The costs of the inspections are calculated according to the Hessian scale of fees and are to be borne by the facilities and companies.
