Mayor of Klagenfurt

On June 3, 1959, the Mayor of Klagenfurt signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden.

Hans Ausserwinkler was born on February 2, 1919 in Stockenboi in the Austrian province of Carinthia.

He trained as a farmer and served as an officer in the paratroopers during the Second World War. After the end of the war, he joined the Austrian Socialist Party and from 1946 held various offices relating to agriculture and forestry at district and provincial level.

From 1952 he was a member of Klagenfurt's municipal council and from 1953 he was the city councillor for construction. He was elected mayor in 1957. During his term of office, which lasted until 1973, Ausserwinkel visited Klagenfurt's twin city, the Hessian state capital of Wiesbaden, several times.

At a reception on June 3, 1959, Mayor Mix praised the success of the partnership work in the political, social and cultural spheres. His guest thanked him for the friendly welcome and wished for a further deepening of relations between the two cities in the future. He then signed the city's Golden Book.

Hans Ausserwinkler died in Klagenfurt on August 9, 1989.
