African swine fever: fewer measures, changes to restricted zones
The animal disease control measures have been successful and two new general rulings have been issued, relaxing and changing the restricted zones, which will come into force on Friday, May 8.
This will make things considerably easier for hunters in Wiesbaden. The exact new boundaries can be viewed here (opens in a new tab).
All areas north of the new Restricted Zone I boundary (green line) will no longer be restricted zones as of Friday, May 8. The area between the purple and green lines defines the new Restricted Zone I; hunting is permitted here with virtually no restrictions.
The final restrictions on the Schiersteiner Aue have also been lifted, meaning dogs are once again allowed to run freely here, provided this is not prohibited by other regulations. Hunting is once again permitted here, and recreational activities such as off-trail cycling can also be resumed.
The restrictions in Restricted Zone II (south of the purple line) remain in effect. The white zones also remain in place, and hunters in Wiesbaden are still called upon to intensify their hunting of wild boars. Only a significantly reduced wild boar population will lower the risk of infection and thus prevent the spread of the animal disease. And the citizens of Wiesbaden are also still being asked to help. Fence gates must be kept closed at all times, and wild boar carcasses or wild boars that appear sick must be reported immediately via the established channels.
