What parents can expect from this daycare center:
We are an "open house" in which we grant children their right to uniqueness, individuality, co-determination, personal freedom, education, development, support, health and justice. They are the actors and shapers of their development and decide for themselves (intrinsic motivation) which offers they want to accept, when, how and with whom.
The St. Andreas Catholic daycare center was opened in 1965 and is closely rooted in the Rheingauviertel-Hollerborn district. Numerous generations have spent their childhood here and later their youth in the parish of St. Andreas and then, as proud parents, brought their own children to the St. Andreas daycare center. As a social-Christian institution, our pastoral area is very close to our hearts, which we keep lively with traditional district festivals such as the annual St. Martin's procession, the spring festival or the welcome festival.
At the St. Andreas daycare center, we offer up to 82 childcare places, both three-quarter and full-day places for children aged three years to school age. Our district is characterized by cultural, linguistic and religious diversity, which we approach with an open mind. We see this plurality as an opportunity and embrace diversity both in our attitude and in our everyday teaching.
The St. Andreas daycare center does not have any core groups! We have focus areas whose functions and content are constantly being developed in dialog with the children and specialist staff in a participatory change process. This allows us to give the children the greatest possible freedom of choice and decision-making in their day-to-day life at the daycare center and to provide the staff with a workplace that is geared towards their abilities, interests and resources. The selection process takes place after our mum circles in the morning. Here, the children have the opportunity to actively and consciously choose functional rooms in two dial-in sequences using dial-in tickets. The dial-in tickets depict the individual function rooms using pictograms. Just like us humans, our spaces can always evolve. Children provide the necessary impetus for this in dialog with the specialists.
You, as parents, have a reference tandem for the entire kindergarten period, which is always in regular, communicative exchange with you. These reference tandems consist of two to three teachers, who reflect on the child's development status with you at regular parent-teacher meetings, discuss your questions, wishes and suggestions and maintain a cooperative and respectful relationship. Your children may and should be familiar with all employees of the daycare center. They have the opportunity and the right to choose their play partners and friends from the whole house. They can also choose the right pedagogical specialist to accompany and support them in their daily routine.
The functional rooms, such as the gym, playroom, living room, construction room, research room or creative room, can be visited during the free play phases according to the children's needs. These are spread over two floors. Each functional room is supervised by pedagogical specialists and is designed with a focus on content. The children's wishes are regularly listened to, coordinated, implemented and reflected upon. In this way, we ensure that the educational work in our building is designed from the perspective of the experts, namely your children. In addition, the rooms may already look different in the near future in a dialogical process with the children. In this way, we always remain in an interested, curious and active development process.
