German citizens can apply for a provisional ID card if they need it immediately for a specific reason. They must not already have another valid German travel document.
To apply for a temporary ID card, you must be registered as having your primary residence in Wiesbaden. If you are not registered as having your primary residence in Wiesbaden, you must provide compelling reasons why the application must be made in Wiesbaden.
Applications for a provisional ID card for individuals under the age of 16 must always be submitted by both legal guardians. The place of residence of the legal guardians is irrelevant in this case. If a legal guardian is unable to appear in person, a written statement of consentPDF-File86,73 kB must be submitted. The original document is not required, but a copy of the guardian’s identification must be provided. The ID card can only be issued to the parent or guardian who submitted the application (alone) if the written consent of the absent parent or guardian is provided at the time of pickup. The child must also be present when the application is submitted.
