It's coffee time!
Spending a morning or afternoon in a café - there's nothing better. Here is a selection of our favorite places!
The sociable: Kaufmanns am Markt
Kaufmanns am Markt (opens in a new tab) is the perfect place to stop by for a coffee before or after the market, and it’s a popular gathering spot for Wiesbaden residents.
The high-quality beans are refined using an artisanal roasting process in which the temperature, roasting time, and roast level are specifically tailored to each variety. This allows each specialty coffee to fully develop its individual character—the foundation for the intense flavor of the espressos and filter coffees.
Tip: The roastery offers a barista and latte art course (opens in a new tab).
Address: Marktstraße 12
The French: L'Art sucrée
At L'Art sucré (opens in a new tab), things are done the old-fashioned way—in the best possible sense. The sweet creations—from tartlets and macarons to raisin swirls—are handmade using traditional methods and timeless ingredients like butter, eggs, cream, fruit, nuts, and their own bean-to-bar chocolate.
Everything is lovely—the counter with its fine pastries, the lovingly designed shop, and the café that instantly transports you to Paris.
Address: Marktstraße 9
The classic: Café Maldaner
Café Maldaner (opens in a new tab) was opened in 1859 by master baker Adam Maldaner. This historic café began as a small coffeehouse and has, over time, become one of the most famous Viennese coffeehouses in Germany.
One moment you’re in the pedestrian zone in Wiesbaden, and the next, after passing through the wooden revolving door, you’ve stepped back into the 19th century—thanks to the wooden counter with homemade cakes, pastries, and chocolates, the chandeliers, the figurines, and the waitstaff in livery. Be sure to make a reservation, especially if you want to have breakfast there, for example before or after a visit to the market.
Address: Marktstraße 34
The Portuguese: Lx. Café
With the LX Café, (opens in a new tab) the flavors of the Atlantic coast come straight to Wiesbaden! The menu features both savory and sweet dishes from Portugal. In addition to the famous Pastéis de Nata, the menu includes Surf Bowls—breakfast bowls layered with ingredients like chia pudding and fresh fruit.
Address: Herderstraße 18, 65185 Wiesbaden
The flowery one: drink&bloom
At drink&bloom (opens in a new tab) in the Dichterviertel, Vanessa Dyrda offers specialty coffees, drinks, croissants, fresh cakes, and cut flowers. She arranges the beautiful wildflower bouquets herself. On the terrace, child-sized chairs await the little guests. They can help themselves to toys from the toy box or get creative with chalk. And as a special treat, a "Babyccino" made with light, frothy milk is included for free.
In this interview (opens in a new tab), Vanessa shares how she got started, her biggest successes, and what she has planned for the future.
Address: Kleiststraße 2
The cozy: here & now
At Hier & Jetzt (opens in a new tab), you can enjoy a delicious breakfast—or treat yourself to a slice of truly delicious cake. Whether it’s a moist lemon cake or apple crumble made with local apples—there’s something here for every taste. The highlight: the cardamom buns!
The menu also features bread with hummus or cheese, as well as homemade lemonades. The bread is absolutely fantastic because hier & jetzt has its own bakery. Everything is organic, and the bread is freshly baked every morning!
The hip: Overflow
At Overflow (opens in a new tab) in the Old Town, people of all ages come together to enjoy croissants, quiches, cicchetti, and homemade cake. They also host creative workshops, readings, evenings with live music, film screenings, and open-mic sessions where you can spontaneously take the stage and perform whatever you feel like.

The vintage café: Stadtkind
Panini, matcha, and homemade cakes—you can find all of this at Stadtkind (opens in a new tab) on Wagemannstraße. A place to arrive, take a deep breath, and linger—right in the heart of the Old Town, designed with love. Whether it’s a quick espresso to go or a relaxing matcha latte in a cozy vintage chair—everyone will find exactly what they need here!
