Press release of the state capital Wiesbaden

Stadtmuseum am Markt introduces a quiet hour

From Thursday, May 14, the Stadtmuseum am Markt (sam) will be taking part in Wiesbaden's Quiet Hour initiative. In future, visits to the museum will be deliberately made less stimulating every Thursday from 3 to 5 pm.

The Quiet Hour is designed for people for whom visiting public places can be stressful due to light, noise, conversations, announcements, or visual stimuli. This includes, among others, people on the autism spectrum, those with ADHD, dementia, migraines, long COVID, chronic pain, or fatigue. At the same time, all visitors who appreciate a quieter atmosphere in the museum will benefit.

During the Quiet Hour, noise is reduced as much as possible at the City Museum. Large group tours and loud programs are not held during this time. The staff speaks quietly, works with minimal noise, and ensures a relaxed atmosphere in the entrance and ticket areas. Seating is available in the museum.

By participating in the Quiet Hour, the City Museum is setting an example for greater accessibility, consideration, and cultural participation. The initiative has been coordinated by the state capital in Wiesbaden since July 2025 and is being implemented in collaboration with numerous partners.
