Change of address within Wiesbaden

If you move within Wiesbaden, you must re-register at the citizens' office or a local administration office.

If you are under 16 years of age, the person whose apartment you are moving into is responsible for re-registering you. If you are of legal age and have a caregiver or guardian who can determine your place of residence, they are responsible for re-registering you.

If you are moving within Wiesbaden with your main residence, you can re-register online:

To do this, you will need a German identity card or eID card with the online ID function (opens in a new tab) activated, including your PIN (click here (opens in a new tab)).
If you do not have the online ID function, you can re-register using the video identification procedure. (opens in a new tab)

When re-registering with the registration office, you must present written confirmation from your landlord or a person authorized by them (landlord confirmation (opens in a new tab)).

Online services

Requirements:

To use this service, you need a user account with an online ID card at Bund-ID.
a valid ID card with activated online ID function including PIN or an eID card for citizens of the European Union and nationals of the European Economic Area including PIN.
an NFC-enabled smartphone (recommended) or a USB card reader.
the AusweisApp version 1.24.0 or higher for your smartphone or computer.
the landlord's confirmation of residence (in digital form) if you do not own the apartment.

Please note that it is no longer necessary to visit the Citizens' Registration Office.

Requirements:

You have a confirmation of residence in digital form
You would like to register/re-register yourself and possibly your family
You have a good command of written and spoken German
You have a scan of the valid identification documents of all persons moving with you
You also have a scan of the powers of attorney of all persons aged 16 and over moving with you

Please note that with this online service, once you have registered, you will still need to visit the Citizens' Office to update the chip data on your ID card.
