Municipal daycare centers - offers and concepts
In the municipal daycare centers, children in all types of care are usually looked after all day.
Over 4,300 children are currently cared for in the 42 municipal daycare centers in all forms of care, mostly full-time. In accordance with the legal mandate (Social Code Book VIII), the following applies to all daycare facilities: "The support mandate includes the upbringing, education and care of the child and relates to the child's social, emotional, physical and mental development."
The professional focus of the pedagogical concepts of the municipal daycare centers have been developed over many years and correspond to the professional requirements and objectives of the Hessian Education Plan (2007). The special quality of the Hessian Education Plan lies primarily in the philosophy of the image of the child as an active and active person.
The individual personality of the child is described in the mission statement of the municipal daycare centers. The child is at the forefront here and educational activities are defined from the child's perspective. Education begins at birth and early educational processes are fundamental to later educational opportunities.
The active appropriation of the world by children as active subjects requires the support and guidance of the family and professionals.
The daycare center department implements this claim:
- The long-standing, professional foundations of our work in the 42 municipal daycare centers are continuously reviewed as part of our quality management process, and new target agreements are gradually established.
- All municipal daycare centers implement one of three educational approaches.
The Montessori approach—which focuses on the individual child. The environment in which they spend their daily lives is tailored to their respective physical and emotional needs.
The Freinetplus approach—which places the child at the forefront as an independent, active learner. Daily life is shaped by the promotion of children’s rights and children’s participation in decision-making.
The Pyramid Method is a holistic approach that supports all children in all areas of development according to their individual developmental levels. The goal is to help children learn to shape their own lives independently.
